I’m James Perry, a Boston-based artist, photographer, and mixed media creator exploring history, culture, identity, and the beauty found within everyday life through my work. As a 2025 Brother Thomas Fellow, I’ve become widely recognized for my award-winning photography and expressive portraiture that blends fine art traditions with contemporary storytelling.

Through J.Perry Fine Art, I’ve had the opportunity to exhibit my work in galleries, museums, institutions, and public spaces throughout Boston and beyond, including collaborations with organizations such as the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Pfizer, New Balance, LabCentral, and the City of Boston. One of my works was exhibited alongside the Obama portraits at the MFA Boston and later archived within the museum’s collection.

I’m deeply inspired by people, history, and community, and I use photography, graphite, acrylic, and mixed media to create emotionally powerful works that invite you to reflect and engage in conversation. Whether I’m documenting quiet moments through my lens or creating large-scale portraits of cultural and historical figures, my mission remains the same: to create art that connects, preserves stories, and inspires you to truly see.
